REFLUX

The esophagus is the tube that takes food from the mouth to stomach. It does not contain acid nor does it contribute to actual digestion. Acid in the stomach is the first major step in digestion. Reflux occurs when stomach acid regurgitates up into the esophagus and even throat.

RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS

This autoimmune disease involves the immune system attacking the joints. It causes inflammation, pain and severe joint deformities that may require replacement surgery. Steroids reduce the acute inflammation during an attack but can not be taken long term because they suppress the immune system which can then cause death by infection. Treatment is to nourish and support the immune system so it functions properly.

ROSACEA

Rosacea is often treated with antibiotics which afford little or no relief because it is not an infection. This is characterized by reddening of the skin of the face especially the nose and cheeks. Over years, there may be thickening of the skin and enlargement of the nose. It is believed to be a lack of digestive enzymes which creates a long term Vitamin B deficiency. It may be aggravated by spicy foods, heat or hot water on the face.
