KETONES

Glucose (a type of sugar) is the body's main energy source. But when the body can't use glucose for energy, it uses fat instead. When fat is broken down, chemicals called ketones are produced. They get into a person's blood and urine. High levels of ketones cause the blood to become more acidic. This can occur when not enough food has been eaten to provide glucose for energy, or it can occur in diabetes, when the body can't use glucose normally.

KIDNEY STONES

The kidney filters the blood 24/7. It removes waste products and regulates potassium and mineral levels in the blood. It dilutes this filtrate with water creating urine which then drips into the bladder, a holding tank. Most commonly stones are caused by poor dietary choices. Soft drinks, refined sugar products and excess sugar consumption alter the blood’s balance causing calcium buildup in the kidney.
